School Of Ophthalmic Sciences
An Ophthalmic Technician is a certified Allied Healthcare Professional who fits eyeglasses and contact lenses based on eye care specialists’ prescriptions. Their key duties include interpreting prescriptions, determining lens specifications, advising clients, educating on maintenance, managing records, and performing administrative tasks. They may also open their own eye care facility with an MS (Ophth.), depending on state regulations.
Introduction : After completing the program, students will be ready for a career in ophthalmology, specializing in eyewear fitting. Ophthalmic Technicians will interpret prescriptions, determine lens specifications, guide clients, educate on care, maintain records, and handle administrative tasks. They may also have the opportunity to establish their own eye care center with an MS (Ophth.), in accordance with state laws.
The two-year curriculum will focus on skill development.
