Nurturing Generations of Paramedical Professionals Since 1976

Lt. Dr. S. S. Joshi
Founder & Managing Director

For over five decades, the Institute of Public Health & Hygiene (IPHH) has stood as a symbol of quality education, compassionate service, and excellence in healthcare training. At the heart of this remarkable journey lies the visionary leadership of Lt. Dr. S. S. Joshi, whose unwavering commitment laid the foundation of one of India’s oldest and most respected paramedical and allied health education institutions.

Founded in July 1976, IPHH was born from Lt. Dr. S. S. Joshi’s bold and forward-thinking vision—to create an institution dedicated to training skilled healthcare professionals who would serve society with dedication, compassion, inclusivity, and integrity. At a time when paramedical education was still emerging, his foresight recognised the critical role allied health professionals play in strengthening India’s healthcare system.

Under his leadership, IPHH grew into a nationally recognised institution, empowering thousands of students, particularly from underprivileged and marginalised backgrounds, to build meaningful careers and contribute positively to society. His belief that education should be accessible, practical, and socially relevant continues to guide IPHH’s mission even today

National Impact and Achievements

Lt. Dr. S. S. Joshi’s contributions extended far beyond institutional boundaries. IPHH earned national and international recognition through its collaborations and public service initiatives, including:

  • Ministry of Defence (DGR), 1984
Recognised as a Pre-Release Training Centre for Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel.
  • Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW)
Active contributor to national policy discussions and workforce planning under the National Allied Health Initiative.
  • State & International Collaborations
Training healthcare personnel from multiple State Governments and institutions such as AIIMS, University of Delhi, the United Nations, and leading private hospitals.

A Legacy That Lives On

Lt. Dr. S. S. Joshi envisioned an institution where education and service go hand in hand, producing professionals who are not only technically competent but also socially responsible and ethically grounded. His values continue to shape IPHH’s academic philosophy, community outreach, and commitment to excellence.

As IPHH celebrates 50 Years of Excellence (1976–2026), we honour the life, vision, and enduring legacy of our founder. His pioneering spirit remains a guiding light as IPHH moves forward—shaping healthcare, empowering lives, and building a healthier future for generations to come.
