The Climate Change Unit at IPHH has been established as a proactive initiative to promote environmental responsibility, sustainability, and climate-conscious behaviour among students, faculty, and staff. In alignment with national sustainability goals and Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), the unit focuses on translating climate awareness into everyday action, encouraging individuals to adopt responsible consumption habits and reduce their carbon footprint.

The Climate Change Unit functions as a centre for awareness, action, and accountability. It aims to sensitise the campus community about climate change, its causes, and its impact on health, livelihoods, and the environment, while empowering individuals to become responsible environmental stewards.

Vision and Objectives

The vision of the IPHH Climate Change Unit is to build a sustainable, environmentally responsible academic community by integrating climate-friendly practices into daily life. The key objectives include:

  • Promoting awareness of climate change and sustainable development
  • Encouraging responsible use of electricity, water, food, and natural resources
  • Reducing waste and carbon emissions at individual and institutional levels
  • Developing student leadership through climate action initiatives
  • Extending sustainability practices beyond campus into homes and communities

Approach: Learn – Adopt – Lead

The Climate Change Unit follows a three-stage approach:

Learn

Creating awareness about climate change, energy consumption, waste generation, and environmental impact through talks, posters, discussions, and digital campaigns.

Adopt

Encouraging students and staff to adopt sustainable habits in daily routines—such as saving electricity, reducing plastic use, conserving water, and managing waste responsibly.

Lead

Empowering students as Climate Ambassadors who lead by example and promote climate-friendly behaviour within their families, neighbourhoods, and communities.

Towards a Sustainable Future

Through its Climate Change Unit, IPHH reaffirms its commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development. By encouraging small daily actions and collective responsibility, IPHH aims to create a lasting culture of sustainability that benefits not only the campus but society at large.
