Mobility Assistance & Emergency Response
The Mobility Assistance & Emergency Response course is designed to equip students and caregivers with essential skills required to safely assist individuals with limited mobility and respond effectively during medical emergencies. Proper mobility support plays a critical role in rehabilitation, patient independence, and overall quality of life.

This programme focuses on safe patient handling, wheelchair management, emergency preparedness, and basic life-saving techniques. In line with global best practices and WHO recommendations, the course also emphasises dignity, rights of persons with disabilities, and compassionate caregiving. Learners develop both technical competence and strong communication skills, enabling them to support patients confidently in clinical and community settings.
Course Content
- Basic anatomical movements and patient positioning terminology
- Principles and procedures of hand hygiene and infection prevention
- Measuring, recording, and interpreting vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
- Modes of disease transmission, preventive measures, and sterilisation techniques
- Safe positioning, transfer, and mobilisation of patients
- Wheelchair handling skills and mobility assistance techniques
- Management of basic medical emergencies
- Demonstration and practice of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Art of effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams
